LOWELL, MA - The Massachusetts Pirates have signed quarterback Dion (DJ) Golatt Jr. for the 2024 season. The 6'3", 225 lb. signal caller most recently attended rookie minicamps with the Washington Commanders and the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League.
In 2022 Golatt was an All-Central Intercollegiate Athletic Conference First-Team performer with Bowie State University in Maryland. In his lone season with the Bulldogs as a graduate student, Golatt Jr. led his conference throwing for 2,649 yards, which ranked 13th nationally, while completing 61 percent of his passes. In ten games he completed 207 of 337 attempts with 18 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Six times that season he was named conference player of the week. He also ran 64 times for 129 yards and two touchdowns.
His signature game was against Livingstone College when he set the Bowie State record for passing yards in a game with 439. In that game he completed 80 percent of his passes going 32 of 40 with four touchdowns.
At the end of the season Golatt Jr. was invited to play in the HBCU Legacy Bowl. In that all-star event he was 1 of 3 passing for seven yards and ran twice for nine yards.
The Largo, MD native was one of six players who were invited to take part in the HBCU Showcase XFL Combine.
Golatt Jr. started his collegiate career at Morgan State University in Baltimore. After redshirting in 2017, he played two seasons with the Bears. In 18 games he completed 109 of 217 passing attempts, (50%) for 1,147 yards with eight touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He also rushed 79 times for 234 yards with two touchdowns.
