WORCESTER, MA- The Massachusetts Pirates continued to fill in the majority of their coaching staff this week by bringing in Mook Zimmerman as the Linebackers and Defensive Line Coach, and John Keller as the Offensive Line and Strength and Conditioning Coach.

 

LaRonn "Mook" Zimmerman comes to the Pirates with experience in arena football as a player and a coach. Mook began his coaching career as Head Coach with the Buffalo Lightning, an independent indoor football team, during the 2016 season. In 2017, Mook joined the Richmond Roughriders of the Arena Pro Football league (APF) as their Head Coach and helped lead the team to two undefeated seasons with two championship victories and won the AAL Coach of the Year during 2017 and 2019. The Roughriders fell short of the championship game in 2018 despite only facing two losses. 

 

John Keller joins the organization with over 12 years of coaching experience in college football serving as mainly a tight end, offensive line and special teams coach for 10 different universities. In terms of strength and conditioning, Keller has served 14 years as a strength and conditioning coach and spent time working with college football and basketball teams for the University of Pennsylvania and football for Eastern Oregon University and Cincinnati Christian University. He also spent 6 years at Gold's Gym working as a strength and conditioning coach and personal trainer. Keller last coached for Assumption University as their tight ends coach but also coached offensive tackles and the special teams unit during the 2021 season.  

 

Both coaches will bring extensive experience in their specific roles and offer new ideas to help make the team stronger as a whole.
