Biography

Standing tall at 6’3” and weighing 280 pounds, Howard's formidable presence promises to strengthen the team's defensive line. He brings valuable experience from stints in the USFL with the New Orleans Breakers and the Tampa Bay Bandits (2022-2023), the XFL with the Los Angeles Wildcats (2020), and the NFL with the Los Angeles Chargers (2019).

Howard kicked off his college journey at Fort Scott Community College in Fort Scott, Kansas. During his tenure, he appeared in 11 games and accumulated impressive stats: 24 solo tackles and 36 assisted tackles, totaling 60 tackles. His performance included seven sacks, resulting in a loss of 37 yards, and an impressive 21.5 tackles for a loss of 79 yards. Additionally, Howard contributed with two forced fumbles and successfully broke up two passes.

After transferring from junior college, Howard, a three-star recruit, initially committed to Colorado State University before ultimately opting to join the University of Toledo. During his two seasons with the Rockets, he showcased his skills with 30 solo tackles, 34 assisted tackles, and a total of 64 tackles. His defensive prowess included 20 tackles, resulting in a loss of 59 yards, three sacks accounting for a loss of 21 yards, and two forced fumbles. In 2018, Howard distinguished himself by leading the team with 15 tackles for a loss and ranked fourth in the MAC for tackles behind the line of scrimmage. Additionally, he celebrated a MAC championship victory in 2017 when Toledo defeated the Akron Zips with a score of 45-28.

Howard joined the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent, remaining with the team from May 2019 until September of that year. Shortly after his departure, he was drafted in the seventh round of the 2020 XFL draft and subsequently signed with the Los Angeles Wildcats. During his time with the Wildcats, he participated in four games, recording five solo tackles, two assisted tackles, seven total tackles, and securing an interception.

Two years later, Howard joined the Tampa Bay Bandits in the USFL, contributing 13 solo tackles and 11 assisted tackles, totaling 24 tackles, and recording two sacks resulting in a loss of 16 yards. Later that season, he moved to the New Orleans Breakers within the same league, where he registered three solo tackles, three assisted tackles, six total tackles, and three sacks, leading to a loss of 20 yards. Returning to the Breakers in 2023, Howard accumulated 11 solo tackles, nine assisted tackles, 20 total tackles, and 1.5 sacks for a loss of 2.5 yards. His standout performance earned him a spot on the All-USFL Defensive Team that season.
