Massachusetts Pirates

Defensive back Devin Hafford returns to the Pirates for his second season. Hafford joined the Pirates last season and helped the team to a 54-48 road win over the Tulsa Oilers. Hafford started that game for Massachusetts and was the Pirates second leading tackler with a total of six stops, five of which were solo. He also registered .5 sacks and broke up one pass. Hafford also was a member of the Michigan Panthers of the USFL last season.

Hafford, the former Western Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2021 at Tarleton State, signed as an undrafted free agent with the New England Patriots of the National Football League in 2022. Upon his release, Hafford was with the Pittsburgh Maulers of the USFL for the final weeks of the season before returning to the Patriots for another look in training camp. Hafford then signed with the Houston Roughnecks of the USFL and later signed with the Toronto Argonauts in the Canadian Football League before joining the Pirates.

The 5”11”, 205 lb. DB appeared in 56 games during his career with the Tarleton State Texans. As a senior Hafford notched 50 tackles, had six interceptions, two fumble recoveries, a forced fumble and broke up seven passes. The Atascocita, TX native finished his collegiate career with 243 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for a loss, 12 interceptions, 57 passes defended and four fumble recoveries, Hafford was a First Team All-WAC selection and was named a Second Team All-American by two services.
