FORMER PIRATE AHMAD DIXON PICKED IN USFL SUPPLEMENTAL DRAFT

WORCESTER, MA – Former Massachusetts Ahmad Dixon has been selected by the Philadelphia Stars of the USFL in the leagues’ supplemental draft. The 6’0” 210 lb. defensive back was chosen with the fourth pick in the eighth round.
In nine regular season games for the Champions of the Indoor Football League, Dixon had 49 tackles, one tackle for a loss, one sack, an interception and broke up four passes. He also appeared in the United Bowl making two tackles in the 37-34 overtime victory over the Arizona Rattlers.
Dixon was a seventh round draft pick of the Dallas Cowboys in the 2014 NFL Draft. He spent training camp with the Cowboys, but was released. His next stops were on the practice squad with the Minnesota Vikings and then on to Chicago where the Bears placed him on the active roster.
After playing five games for Chicago where he recovered a fumble and made three tackles, he signed on with Miami and later the Vikings, where he appeared in three games for each team.
The Waco, Texas native played college football in his hometown for Baylor University. In four years for the Bears, he was a three-year starter. Dixon became a two-time All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selection and in 2013 was named a All-Big 12 First-Team, and 2013 All-American First-Team member . Dixon also participated in the 2014 Senior Bowl and 2014 NFL Scouting Combine.
