LOWELL, MA - The Massachusetts have signed former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Trevone Boykin for the 2024 season. Boykin also was a standout quarterback at Texas Christian University from 2011 through 2015.
Boykin, a 6'0", 213 lb. native of Mesquite, TX joined the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2016. That season he appeared in five NFL games and was 13 of 18 passing for 145 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also ran eight times for one yard. The following season Boykin was a member of the Seahawks practice squad.
At TCU Boykin started nine games as a red-shirt freshman in 2012 and the following season started six games at quarterback and one as a receiver.
In 2014 Boykin became the starting quarterback in his junior season and led the Horned Frogs to the number three ranking in the Nation with a 12-1 record. He set four TCU single-season records with 3,901 passing yards, 33 touchdown passes, responsible for 42 touchdowns, and 4,608 yards of total offense. Boykin also set a school record with seven touchdown passes in a game against Texas Tech. He was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year. He finished the season with a 42-3 win over ninth-ranked Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl where he was selected as the game's Offensive Most Valuable Player. He was a First Team All-Big 12 selection. That season Boykin finished fourth in the voting for the Heisman Trophy and was a Consensus Second Team All-American. He was also third in the nation in total offense at 354.5 yards per game.
As a senior, he missed one game due to injury. Boykin started the other 11 games and passed for 3,575 yards with 31 touchdowns. Boykin earned Second Team All-American honors from Walter Camp and was a Second Team All-Big 12 selection and appeared in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.
When he had finished his collegiate career, Boykin ranked first in TCU career passing yards, passing attempts, pass completions, and touchdown passes. Threw for 10,728 yards in 48 games with 40 career starts. He completed 830-of-1,356 passes for a 61.2 completion percentage, ranking him third in the TCU record books. Boykin averaged 300.0 yards passing or better as both a junior and senior and compiled 12,777 yards of total offense during his career. As a receiver, he caught 28 passes for 257 yards and ran 2,049 yards on 507 carries with 27 rushing touchdowns. He finished his TCU career with 2,309 all-purpose yards.
