Jakobi Smith had a cameo appearance last season with the Pirates. Yatim is happy to have him back to see more of what the Florida Atlantic alum can do.
“Jakobi spent a brief time with us last season, he’s a very strong and stout lineman,” Yatim said. “We were impressed in his lone performance last year against Orlando. He’s a good kid and I’m excited to see the offensive line shape out in camp, it’ll be a healthy competition along our offensive front.”
Smith, 25, was a baseball player at first playing from the age of five all the way up until his junior year of high school where he swapped his glove for the gridiron.
Smith started every single game his senior season at Florida Atlantic University helping his team capture the East Division title and defeat North Texas in the Conference USA Championship. The team was invited to the Boca Raton Bowl where they defeated Akron.
