Defensive back Harlan Miller joins the Pirates for his first season in 2021. Most recently, Miller played for the XFL’s Los Angeles Wildcats in spring of 2020. He appeared in 4 games and recorded 13 tackles and 1 interception. In the 2016 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals chose Miller with the 30th pick of the 6th round, pick number 205 overall. Between ‘16 and ‘17 Miller played in 5 games for the Cardinals recording 13 tackles and 1 interception. In 2018 Miller was briefly a member of the Washington Football Team organization, appearing in 2 games. Miller was drafted out of Southeastern Louisiana University where he was considered one of the top defensive backs in the country.
In his senior year at Southeastern Louisiana, Miller was not only named All-American for the third straight season, but also First-Team All-Southland Conference. He finished 2015 with 49 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 10 pass break-ups. His 11 career interceptions were good for fourth best in school history. Playing for the South in the Senior Bowl, Miller led the team with 7 tackles and earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Miller received three accolades after his junior season in 2014. The AP named him Third-Team All-American. He was First-Team All-Southland Conference and All-Louisiana Honorable Mention. Miller made 21 tackles on the season and was second on the team with 3 picks.
2013 was a breakout season for Miller as he became a regular starter for the Lions. He led the team in both interceptions, 4, and pass break-ups, 10. Miller scored the only touchdown of his college career on a 48-yard pick-six in a 58-31 victory against Central Arkansas. As a true freshman in 2012 Miller saw playing time in 11 games.
Miller earned his degree in business management and you can find him hunting, fishing, or crabbing in his spare time. Miller is entering his age-26 season with the Pirates.
