Dontez Byrd most recently played in the Alliance of American Football with the Memphis Express in 2019 and the Seattle Dragons in 2020. Byrd also has experience in the NFL when he took part in the Atlanta Falcons training camp in 2018 as an Undrafted free agent before getting released at the end of the preseason. The Louisville, Kentucky native started his athletic career at Ballard High School in Louisville where he played football and basketball. Byrd started his college football career as a redshirt freshman at the University of Louisville where he had a key role as a wide receiver and on special teams. The 5’10”, 180 lbs. receiver transferred to Tennessee Tech University for his junior year where he broke school records and made his name known as one of the best wide receivers at Tennessee Tech in only his first year there. He wound up ending his 2016 season with a school record of 933 yards on 74 receptions. Byrd was also a major threat in their return game as in the backfield as a running back.
