Da’Sean Downey started his football career at Woodlands High School in Hartsdale, New York before playing a prep year at Canterbury School in 2013. The White Plains, New York native won the defensive MVP in the New York vs New Jersey High School Football Classic in 2013. Downey became an all-state 1st team choice after posting 70 tackles, 14 sacks, and three forced fumbles as a senior. The 6-4, 240lb defensive lineman continued his football career at the University of Massachusetts, where during his junior year he became part of the Phil Steele All- Independent second team. He also led the team in tackles for a loss with 8.5 for 44 yards and six sacks for a loss of 31 yards. Downey also forced four fumbles that season which tied for 10th nationally across the NCAA Division I FBS. During Downey’s senior year he made multiple first-team awards as well as having one of the most dominant defensive seasons in program history with 20 tackles for a loss. After UMass, Downey signed with the Baltimore Ravens in May 2018 as an undrafted free agent but was released in June of that year. Downey most recently played in 2019 for the Arizona Hotshots in the Alliance of American Football League and the Calgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football League.
