Pirates Re-Sign Martez Carter – Presented by Phoenix Communications, Inc.

WORCESTER, MA – The Massachusetts Pirates have re-signed running back Martez Carter for the 2022 season. Carter appeared in three games for the Champions of the Indoor Football League last season gaining 122 yards on 26 attempts for an average of 4.7 yards per carry. He scored one touchdown and averaged 40.7 yards rushing per game.

The 5’7” 210 lb. product of Grambling State University had his best performance in a 37-34 win in Tucson where he ran the ball eight times for 57 yards against the Sugar Skulls. In that game he also had three receptions for 16 yards. His only touchdown of the season came on a seven-yard run in a 38-37 win on the road over the Frisco Fighters. In that contest he had 49 yards on 11 carries.

Carter, from Monroe, LA, signed with the Washington Football Team as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He later was signed to the New Orleans Saints practice squad and in 2020 played in two games with the Los Angeles Wildcats of the XFL which included a 34 yard; three-touchdown performance vs. the DC Defenders.

At Grambling, Cater was a three-time All-SWAC selection as he compiled 2,628 yards and 29 touchdowns in 48 games while helping his team to back-to-back conference titles.
