WORCESTER, MA – Massachusetts Pirates kicker Josh Gable and defensive back Ahmad Dixon have been named players of the week by the Indoor Football League following the Pirates 38-37 road victory over the previously undefeated Frisco Fighters in the IFL Game of the Week last Saturday.

Gable was named Special Teams Player of the Week as he kicked his second game winning walk-off field goal in as many games. Gable’s 27 yarder as time expired gave the Pirates the victory and their fifth win of the season. The Kearney, NE native was also five for five on extra points. Gable now has nine made field goals this season which is second most in the IFL.

Dixon earned Defensive Player of the Week honors as he had six solo tackles and assisted on four others for a total of ten tackles. Dixon, a former seventh-round draft pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 2014, also had three tackles for a loss for a total of 12 yards and one sack. Dixon played a major part in the biggest defensive play of the game as with 2:51 to play Frisco had a fourth and six from the Pirates 24. He applied pressure on Frisco quarterback Jonathan Bane as he fired a pass to Manny Arceneaux which was broken up by Khalid Wooten. That gave the ball back to the Pirates for their game winning drive.

The Pirates will be home at Phoenix Field at the DCU Center this Saturday night when they face the Bismarck Buck at 7:05.
