WORCESTER, MA – In 2019 Pirates wide receiver Thomas Owens was named the NAL Offensive Rookie Of The Year after hauling in 59 receptions, for 577 yards and 10 touchdowns. Upon receiving the award in August of 2019, Owens said “{The} 2020 {season} is going to be a big one”.

Although Owens and the Pirates had to wait a year to get back on the field due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Owens stayed true to his word in the 2021 season. Through seven games so far this season, Owens leads the IFL in receptions with 32 and in receiving yards with 449. Owens also has 10 touchdowns on the season, which is fourth most in the IFL, and has scored a touchdown in the last four games. The 6’1” receiver out of Florida International University is currently averaging 4.6 receptions per game, 64.1 yards per game, and 14 yards per catch.

Owens has played a key role in the Pirates high powered offensive attack, as his receiving yards total 46.34% of the Pirates total offense this season. He has also accounted for 52.63% of the Pirates touchdowns this season. Owens has also hauled in 33.68% of the Pirates total receptions this season.

Owens’ impact on the Pirates offense has been enormous, and with seven games still to go this season, T.O. is on pace to shatter his numbers from his 2019 campaign. Owens is on pace for 64+ receptions, 897+ yards, 17 touchdowns.

Owens and the Pirates start the second half of the season this Saturday on the road against the Frisco Fighters. Kick off from The Golden City is set for 8:05 PM EST on Stadium Network.
