WORCESTER, MA. — The Massachusetts Pirates have added a wide receiver to their roster ahead of tomorrow night’s game. The organization has announced the signing of KD Cannon.
Cannon has had multiple run-ins with NFL teams and also had stints in the CFL and XFL. He was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2017 by the San Francisco 49ers, then spent time with the New York Jets, Los Angeles Rams, and Dallas Cowboys. In October 2018, Cannon signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Cannon was drafted by the Los Angeles Wildcats in the 2020 XFL Draft. He ultimately played for the Seattle Dragons of the XFL. Cannon had a standout career at Baylor University, being named All-Big 12 three times and a 2014 Freshman All-American.
Cannon (5’10”, 185 lbs.) spoke with masspiratesfootball.com and was asked about his expectations for this season.
“It feels good to have another opportunity to play the game I love and I expect to bring speed and big plays to the Pirates.”
Pirates president and general manager Jawad Yatim emphasized the production Cannon has already put forth towards the organization.
“KD has come in and quickly carved out a role for himself here. He’s familiar with some of the guys on our roster, especially Ahmad Dixon who played a large role in getting him up here and acclimated. He’s known for his ability to move and we are never going to shy away from bringing in elite level speed like that. Glad to have him here.”
