The Massachusetts Pirates are fueled by their dedicated fans and are always looking for a way to give back to those who support them. Following the announcement of the P.A.S.S. Program in May, the team decided to add the Pen Pal branch to the Writing section of the Program, to ensure that fan interaction is on a more personal level than ever before.
The P.A.S.S. Program is a fun and connecting initiative aimed at promoting literacy and healthy habits for local youth in the organization. The Pirates are extremely dedicated to supporting the academic development of students of all ages. The Pen Pal branch is especially relevant right now, as players and students continue to be separated from everything going on with COVID-19.
Pirates Pen Pal offers students the luxury of keeping in touch with their favorite players through written letters, and at this time, students will have the ability to reach Pirates players digitally through emails and videos. The Pen Pal branch will also include monthly writing assignments with Pirates’ related topics, such as “The story of Arthur” and “The Importance of Teamwork.” At the end of each month, the best prompts will be posted on the Pirates’ social media accounts.
Jesse Heninger, the Director of Marketing for the team, is beyond excited to unveil the Pen Pal branch to the P.A.S.S. Program. Connecting students with the players on such a personal level will create an everlasting bond and bring Pirates Nation even closer together.
“We are super excited to unveil the Pirates Pen Pal Program to schools and students of all ages around the area. The opportunity to safely engage with the students on topics from sports to homework, or even their favorite school subjects is priceless and also very rewarding for our players as well.”
Interested principles, teachers, and school leaders that would like to incorporate the P.A.S.S. Program to their school programs can email the Pirates at firstname.lastname@example.org or reach out to the Pirates’ Director of Community Outreach, Julia Burkhardt, at (508) 462-6277. The Massachusetts Pirates are happy to continue its relationship with students in the community and are thrilled to bring Pirates Pen Pal to life!
