Pirates Remaining Active With Community Outreach
The Massachusetts Pirates are staying busy this July with multiple events scheduled throughout the community.
Director of community outreach Julia Burkhardt is excited for the opportunities the Pirates will have to interact with fans and possible new supporters.
“To me, the most important part of being out in the community has always been simple – giving back,” Burkhardt told masspiratesfootball.com. “We are in a very special position in which our whole office, team, and ownership will drop everything if we hear of an opportunity to help whether it is cleanups, volunteer work at local charitable organizations, or even donating products.”
Through youth camps, the Pirates and their players are looking to spread fundamentals and wisdom to the young athletes around New England.
“We are going to have a presence at a lot of upcoming football camps around New England,” Burkhardt said. “We cannot wait for our local players to be able to share their stories with these young athletes and hopefully teach them a thing or two while they’re at it.”
For Burkhardt, the Pirates symbolize more than just a football squad.
“Though the Pirates are a football team, I view the whole organization as a team,” Burkhardt said. “From ownership all the way down, there has never been a time where I have felt alone or like someone was not willing to help and that is the dynamic we are trying to spread throughout the community.”
Whether it is rain or shine, season or no season, the Pirates are here to assist in the community.
When you need help, never be afraid to reach out,” Burkhardt said. “ Now, society as a whole is going through a very difficult and stressful time and it is more important than ever to offer a helping hand. For example, essential workers have been working around the clock helping those in need throughout this pandemic.”
