Offseason Plans: Willie Yarbary

By: Sam Gordon

Defensive tackle Willie Yarbary is ready to put his head to the grindstone in preparation for 2021.
“Just focusing on staying in shape and enjoying time with family,” Yarbary told “Down south, all the gyms are open so I’m training with my friend Ray Webber who owns a gym and has a large turf field, basketball court, free weights, rack weights, barbells and stuff like that.”
Webber keeps Yarbary’s eye on the ball with an exercise regimen that will keep him ready whenever he might get a call.
“He gives me a good plan and I pretty much just follow that,” Yarbary said. “It really keeps me busy and active and in the mindset of football.”
On top of training himself, the Wake Forest alum is giving back with helping the youth at Webber’s gym fine-tune their football skills.

“I actually help kids because Ray has different groups of athletes and I just help train them,” Yarbary said. “It’s a great feeling to be able to pass on knowledge that you’ve acquired such as stuff you learned at the Division I level.”
Yarbary went into more detail on how gratifying it is to instruct young football players.
“The great thing about it is establishing the fundamentals and discipline,” Yarbary said. “It’s just good to give back and help and to establish things that these kids need to have at the next level because these are the things that I have learned that coaches look for at that level.”
