Pirates Bring Back Rayshaun Kizer as Defensive Coordinator
The Massachusetts Pirates are shoring up their coaching staff early into the offseason. The organization confirms the re-signing of defensive coordinator Rayshaun Kizer.
The former defensive back was brought in with a resume that is hard to beat. With 62 interceptions, two First-Team All-Arena and three Second-Team All-Arena awards, Kizer is in the conversation as one of the best ever at his position in indoor football.
President and general manager Jawad Yatim voiced his enthusiasm for keeping Kizer in Worcester.
“When it comes to Coach Kizer the intrigue for me is the enthusiasm he has for his job,” Yatim told masspiratesfootball.com. “From the interactions and conversations we’ve had up to this point he’s eager and prepared to get going. I look forward to seeing what he can do with our defense as I believe our players will respond well to his coaching. His experience and knowledge in arena football will be an integral addition to the coaching staff as well. Glad to have Rayshaun back on board.”
For Kizer, it was a no-brainer to step back into his role and was humbled to be welcomed back so quickly.
“It’s just a great organization and I love how Jawad handles business around here,” Kizer said. “We had a very good roster set in place for this past season but unfortunately we couldn’t play so I’m looking forward to getting most of those guys back next season to work with them and see what happens.”
