Offseason Plans: R.J. Roberts

Defensive lineman R.J. Roberts is disappointed with no season but that is not stopping from getting ahead of 2020

“I’m just gonna lay low, rest, take care of the body,” Roberts told masspiratesfootball.com. “Everyday, you’re just trying to get better because there is always next year.”

Roberts is not just about self care this offseason. The 30-year-old defensive lineman is excited to help out the youth in his community make strides towards their dreams.

“Just trying to help people man and help kids in the community,” Roberts said. “It’s always good to use your platform to give back even when you’re not in playing.”

Roberts still feels disappointed that he cannot to strap on the helmet and fans will not see Pirates football in 2020. But, that is not stopping him from getting on with his journey and to be ready when the time comes to play again.

“Some people look forward to this because it’s our job. Our job is to play football,” Roberts said. “But we just have to keep pushing and keep working hard because everyone knows hard work always pays off.”
