Massachusetts Pirates sign QB Darron Thomas (6’3 210). The Houston, Texas native was a 4 star recruit coming out of Aldine High School ultimately committing to the University of Oregon. Thomas had a stellar career while playing for Ducks leading the Pac-12 University to a 2011 National Championship appearance against Cam Newton and the Auburn Tigers and winning the 2012 Rose bowl over the Wisconsin Badgers and Russel Wilson. Thomas finished his college career with a record of 23-3 as a starter, also tallying 75 total touchdowns and 6,629 total yards while wearing the green, neon, and white. Thomas declared early for the NFL draft and was ranked the 17th best QB entering the 2012 draft while also being invited to the NFL Draft combine. The athletic QB was signed by the Cleveland Browns in 2012 participating in training camp with the AFC north ball club. Since his time in the NFL, Thomas has signed with the Calgary Stampede of the Canadian Football League, while also spending 3 years with the Portland Thunder of the AFL and 1 year with the Arizona Rattlers of the IFL.
